Sterling Silver and Sterling Silver?
- "925" silver, also known as "sterling" silver, is an alloy composed of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper.
- The term "Sterling Silver" refers to the exact same alloy.
- Silver is a noble and precious metal, traditionally used for high-quality jewelry. (Learn more)
Silver and Tarnish: What You Need to Know
- Pure silver, as well as the alloy commonly used in jewelry (92.5% sterling silver), does not oxidize like iron and therefore does not rust on contact with air.
- However, it can tarnish on contact with air or certain sulfur compounds, forming a thin layer of silver sulfide (Ag₂S).
- This thin film does not structurally alter the silver, but it absorbs light differently and gives it a "matte", "dull", or even "slightly blackened" appearance.
Why has my jewelry turned black?
This is a natural reaction related to your skin's pH, which can be influenced by diet, stress, or perspiration. Some more acidic skin types cause slight oxidation, even on 925 sterling silver.
Is my jewelry poor quality?
No! Oxidation does not question the quality of the metal; it is simply a natural chemical reaction.
How to clean it?
Find the method in this section: Care and guarantees. Professional cleaning is also possible at a jeweler.
If the blackening persists…
Keep in mind that there are phenomena that cannot be completely changed. In this case, I recommend asking for rhodium plating at the nearest jeweler who can do it.
Rhodium plating is a treatment that consists of depositing a thin layer of rhodium on the jewelry, a precious metal that protects and restores shine to silver or white/gray gold. The cost is generally around €50, but can be a little higher depending on the size and complexity of the jewelry.
This treatment may require annual or less frequent maintenance, but it guarantees optimal, long-lasting protection and surface treatment for your jewelry. A small effort for a great effect!
Rhodium plating: understanding its purpose
Rhodium plating is a surface treatment that consists of depositing a very thin layer of rhodium on a piece of jewelry through electrolysis. Rhodium is a rare precious metal, belonging to the platinum family. Naturally white, very shiny, and particularly hard, it is valued for its aesthetic and protective properties.
In jewelry, rhodium plating is mainly used on white (or grey) gold jewelry to give it its brilliant white color. Indeed, white gold is naturally slightly yellow or grey depending on its alloy. Rhodium gives it a brighter, more uniform finish and a mirror effect.
It can also be applied to 925 sterling silver jewelry. Although silver naturally has a beautiful shine, rhodium plating enhances its brilliance while limiting its oxidation and the appearance of tarnishing upon contact with air, humidity, or certain sulfur compounds.
As rhodium plating is a surface treatment, it gradually wears away over time with friction and daily use. Its lifespan varies depending on the jewelry and its use. When it starts to fade, it is possible to renew the treatment to restore the jewelry to its original brilliance.

Size Guide
Consult the Size guide to find the ideal size for your necklace, ring, or bracelet.
I ordered the wrong size (my jewelry is too big or too small)
As jewelry is made specifically to the size selected when you place your order, it is your responsibility to check the accuracy of the measurements before confirming your purchase. The workshop cannot therefore be held responsible if the piece of jewelry turns out to be too big or too small due to a measurement error or an incorrectly selected size.
- Personalized orders cannot be exchanged or refunded, in accordance with Article L221-28 of the French Consumer Code.
To assist you with this step, a complete size guide is available before any order. It offers several methods for correctly measuring your finger, wrist, or neck size, as well as that of a loved one discreetly.
If, despite these precautions, a measurement error occurred when you placed your order, you can select the resizing service, available in the Maintenance and Warranties section of the site. Subject to technical feasibility, your jewelry can be adjusted to match your measurements.
As resizing results from a measurement error during the order, this intervention cannot be covered by the workshop. The resizing fee, as well as the shipping costs of the jewelry to the workshop, therefore remain your responsibility.
